The Housing and Planning Bill confirms a further announcement from July: planning permission is to be assumed in principle on brownfield sites.
The Bill proposes that brownfield housing sites of 10 units or fewer will be capable of obtaining permission in principle, if they are included in one of the following:
- The local authority brownfield register
- The local authority development plan
- A neighbourhood plan covering the site
We are going to have to wait a little longer for further details of the permission in principle process. The Bill states that development orders, made by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, will ‘‘set out the detail of the type of document which will allocate land for permission in principle.’’
