Our Proposals
After examining several different options, we believe that redevelopment of the current buildings is the best way to solve the current issues affecting Cecil Court.
Amongst other benefits, creating an entirely new building would allow us to provide a more rational and effective layout to meet care needs, as well as bring the building forward on the site to provide a safe, more tranquil outdoor space for residents at the rear.
Proposed ground floor plan
Our proposed ground floor plan shows the footprint of the building moving forward on the site, allowing us to create a secure and south-facing garden at the rear. Where currently there is parking available for only 2 – 3 vehicles on-site, there would be space to provide 10 parking spaces plus an ambulance bay at the front of the building. Creation of dedicated parking spaces on-site would help to accommodate cars on-site that currently park on Priory Road.
Inside, 16 spacious bedrooms with ensuite facilities would be created on the ground floor. Configured around two dining rooms and a café, we would be able to create ‘household clusters’, providing a smaller, more intimate family unit which research shows works best for residents receiving dementia care. This configuration also puts day spaces at the heart of each household.
These design principles are replicated across the first and second floors of the new building.
