Orbit Homes is a dedicated provider of affordable homes. We are promoting land at Little Shepham, Polegate for 108 homes. The development will be 100% affordable housing, with homes for social rent and shared ownership available. 

Orbit Homes is in the process of drafting a new planning application for Little Shepham, having previously been refused by Wealden District Council partly on the basis that 100% affordable homes would represent an overprovision. The Council would prefer for Orbit Homes to stick with an existing consent for only 35% affordable homes, with the remaining 65% being full market rate houses.

With Wealden’s housing waiting list continuing to grow and the cost of buying a home, particularly for first time buyers, becoming increasingly unaffordable, this type of housing in Polegate and across East Sussex is much needed.

This website aims to give information on the proposals and the background on the site at Little Shepham, as well as information on how Shared Ownership and new social housing would benefit local people in Polegate and Wealden.

We all know that there’s a housing crisis across the UK, with particular pressure on affordable housing. In East Sussex and Wealden, the crisis in affordability and the supply of housing is particularly bad.

The provision of 108 shared ownership and social rent homes at Little Shepham, Polegate obviously won’t fix these issues on its own but it will offer the opportunity to first time buyers and families in need of housing in the District.
