Townfield Meadows

Landscaping & Open Space

A landscape-led approach to the master-planning of the site has ensured that the existing scrubland to the west and the trees and boundary vegetation around the rest of the site will be retained.

In addition to this, new woodland patches and native tree species are proposed to be introduced, along with proposed waterbodies and biodiversity markers such as log piles and bird nests.

A clear visual corridor – Church View – will be created and enhanced through specimen tree planting to create a desirable route through the site.  This will assist in integrating the development into the existing Public Right of Way network, and let the community enjoy views of the church from the edge of the village.

Due to the existing and proposed screening vegetation and the existing context of built development in this location, the proposed homes would not visually intrude on the wider setting of the village, the Kirdford Conservation Area and the surrounding countryside.
