MHCLG throws Planner in the works as NPPF delayed

Chief Planner Joanna Averley confirmed in her newsletter the new National Planning Policy Framework will not be published until the summer – despite initial hopes for Spring.

With public consultation on the new draft NPPF having only closed earlier this week, a spring turnaround may always have been optimistic – but it is another example of the government making strong, positive moves at a slow, delayed pace and shows that even for aspirational governments’ the reality is the wheels of bureaucratic implementation grind slowly.

Summer is a loose definition… the New Towns Taskforce’s Report was to be published in summer 2025, but ultimately wasn’t published until Labour Party Conference in at the end of September … so fingers crossed that summer does not turn into autumn publication.
