Event Review: Online Roundtable with Cllr Ian Thorn, Leader at Wiltshire Council

SP Broadway were delighted to welcome the new Liberal Democrat Leader of Wiltshire Council, Cllr Ian Thorn, as the guest speaker for our latest online Politics of Planning roundtable.
Attendees from Barratt, Savills, Persimmon, Lovell and Gillings, among others, all contributed to the discussion on topics including local government re-organisation, the Local Plan examination and the potential new settlement in Wiltshire between Salisbury and Amesbury.
Cllr Thorn gave an excellent overview of the county, discussing his new position as Leader of the Council, and elaborating on the current progress of the Wiltshire Local Plan. Additionally, Cllr Thorn spoke about his wish to engage actively with housebuilders, developers and land promoters, how he was encouraging other councillors to do the same, and the value of consultation and engagement.
There was discussion about planning committee member training, planning performance agreements and neighbourhood plan funding. Conversations about topics such as SME housebuilders, care homes and delegation schemes were also informative.
Our thanks to Cllr Thorn and guests for attending and contributing to such an interesting discussion.
