For those not at UKREiiF, its worth reading Matt Pennycook’s thoughtful speech from this morning.
It covers the publication of a final, revised NPPF (summer), bringing into force a new National Scheme of Delegation, consulting on Environmental Delivery Plans concerning nutrient pollution (imminent), reforming the role of statutory consultees (not before time), ensuring the new system delivers, removing ‘grit’ from the planning process, and supporting consented sites that are struggling.
It also included the announcement of a “pattern book of standard house design”, co-developed with 23 local authorities, aimed at unlocking economies of scale for SMEs.
No mention though of bringing in a demand side stimulant which will disappoint many with interest rates continuing to edge higher, and act as a drag on the 1.5 million new homes target.
