Event Review: Southampton City Council breakfast with Cllr Sarah Bogle

SP Broadway was delighted to welcome Cllr Sarah Bogle, Cabinet Member for Economic Development at Southampton City Council, as the guest speaker for our latest online Politics of Planning roundtable.
Attendees from Abri, Savills, Wates and Southampton FC, among others, all contributed to the discussion. Topics covered included housing delivery targets, employment space, and collaboration with other neighbouring councils.
Cllr Bogle gave an in-depth overview of the planning landscape in Southampton and explained the Council’s progress in creating a new Local Plan, whilst highlighting other local initiatives regarding energy and traffic.
There was further discussion about the viability of high-rise buildings as well as ways of encouraging civic pride. Conversations about topics such as planning officer engagement, devolution, and affordable housing were also informative for guests.
Our thanks to Cllr Bogle and guests for attending and contributing to such an interesting discussion. Our next online roundtable will be with Philip Barnes, Group Land and Planning Director at Barratt Redrow on 18th February 2025.
