Review: Epping Forest breakfast with Cllr Ken Williamson

SP Broadway was delighted to welcome Cllr Ken Williamson, Shaping Our District Portfolio Holder, Epping Forest District Council, as the guest speaker for our latest online Politics of Planning roundtable.
Attendees from Savills, Hallam Land, Bellway Homes, Wates Development, Croudace Homes among others all contributed to the discussion. Topics covered included the new Local Plan and future reviews, challenges regarding the Epping Forest Conservation Area and the significant amount of Green Belt in the district.
Cllr Williamson gave an in-depth overview of the planning landscape in Epping Forest and went into detail on the unique challenges facing the district. Cllr Williamson led a robust discussion on the key issues, including achieving the actual delivery of homes and the phasing of sites to avoid negatively impacting local communities. There was also a discussion on the opportunities for industrial development in North Weald as well as a discussion on developing a strong working relationship between Epping Forest and neighbouring authorities on Harlow and Gilston Garden Town.
Our thanks to Cllr Williamson and guests for attending and contributing to such an interesting discussion. Our next online roundtable will be with Cllr Denise Gaines, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Housing, West Berkshire, on November 12th 2024.
