SP Broadway hosts Politics of Planning Breakfast with Leader of Slough Borough Council, Cllr James Swindlehurst

On Tuesday 5th June SP Broadway hosted a Politics of Planning breakfast roundtable discussion with Leader of Slough Borough Council, Cllr James Swindlehurst at the Marriott County Hall Hotel.

Among those attending the discussion were representatives from Boyer Planning, DP9, Child Graddon Lewis, Savills and Berkeley Group.

Cllr Swindlehurst opened the discussion, detailing his vision of the future development of Slough, and its potential as a ‘Southern Powerhouse’.  Topics of discussion included Crossrail, the Heathrow expansion and Slough’s ‘Five-year Plan’.

Other issues discussed were:

  • The importance in increasing the retention of the skilled population born and raised in Slough
  • Balancing the growing need for affordable housing against the protection of Slough’s green suburban areas
  • The need  for better public transport links to and from Heathrow airport
  • The regeneration of the town centre and the shopping district

We would like to thank Cllr Swindlehurst and the other attendees for coming and contributing to a lively discussion.
